#6 Reflets sur l’air

Nicola Procaccini, organist

Nicola Procaccini organ

Recorded at Notre-Dame de la Dalbade church on the Puget organ in May 2023
In partnership with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Toulouse les Orgues Festival

“I have chosen three cornerstones of the French organ repertoire, three musical monuments that are appreciated, known, explored and analyzed from every angle. However, in choosing such an important program, I wanted to try to follow the path of musical research that led these three young composers to conceive these three masterpieces, so different yet composed in a common period.

This organ possesses enormous expressive resources and at the same time has the charm of an instrument linked to a tradition of regional organ building, more in tune with the resources of the territory in which it is located.

My hope is that the listener of this album will be able to relate to the essential differences that characterize the richness of the music of Duruflé, Alain and Messiaen: to lose oneself in the former’s profound search for harmonious, formal beauty, and then to enter the heart of the latter’s experience of the story of life, in the tense fresco of the Trois Danses. And finally, to ascend to the superior world of Messiaen, who, raising his eyes to the reflections of light and the songs of birds, succeeds in transporting the music to the very other.”

Press review

What can I say except that, over and above the technical resources needed to master these arduous pages, which he obviously possesses, the young virtuoso performs these three works with a conviction and authority that compel admiration. A generous demonstration (almost an hour and twenty minutes), invigorating and confirming a character that is well tempered and knows where he wants to go. […] A screen-stopping testimonial, and an artist, a stature, to be followed closely.Christophe Steyne – Crescendo Magazine – 7 April 2024
