Enguerrand de Hys

Tenor

Named “Adami’s Classical Revelations” in 2014, tenor Enguerrand de Hys began singing at the Toulouse Conservatoire before joining the CNSMD in Paris. He is a member of the Opera Comique’s Nouvelle Troupe Favart and is in residence at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne with the Ayònis trio he co-founded with clarinettist Elodie Roudet and pianist Paul Beynet.

His voice and musicality allow him to explore different styles and eras, giving him a highly varied repertoire. He has recently been : Calpigi (Tarare by Salieri) at the Opéra de Versailles and the Theater an der Wien, Arcas (Idoménée by Campra) at the Opéra de Lille and the Berlin Staatsoper, Mercure (Platée by Rameau) at the Liceu in Barcelona under the baton of William Christie, Tamorin (La Caravane du Caire by Grétry) at the Opéra de Tours, Monostatos (The Magic Flute) at the Opéra de Rouen and Le Remendado (Carmen) at La Monnaie, Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette) at the Opéra de Nice, and Marinoni (Fantasio by Offenbach) at the Opéra de Montpellier. In the contemporary repertoire, he took part in the premieres of Trois Contes by G. Pesson (2019) at the Lille Opera and L’Inondation by F. Filidei at the Opéra-Comique (2019).

This season, he will be Valère (La Sérénade by Gail) at the Opéra d’Avignon with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, Cecco (Il mondo della luna by Haydn) at Metz, Le Voisin (L’Inondation) at the Opéra-Comique, Le Comte de Surrey (Henri VIII by Saint-Saëns) at La Monnaie, Le Prince Quipasseparla (Le Voyage dans la lune by Offenbach) and Tamorin at Versailles.

His recordings include Lalo’s La Jacquerie with the PBZ, Lully’s Alceste and Lully’s Acis et Galatée with C. Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, Lully’s Cadmus et Hermione with V. Dumestre and Le Poème Harmonique, and the role of Blondel in Grétry’s Richard Cœur de Lion conducted by H. Niquet.

Next season, Mozart will be in the spotlight with the roles of Don Ottavio and Pedrillo, as well as the tenor soloist in the Grande Messe in C minor.
